Wastewater Treatment Plant Project is designed by the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and Sorgun Municipality; and it is implemented by the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. Thanks to this project, Sorgun makes best use of Water Resources and Sorgun provides its citizens with a clean future.

The wastewater treatment plant, which will be established with a project financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey, will be constructed near the Egriöz Creek, which is about 7 km from the city center.

Sorgun Wastewater Treatment Plant will positively affect the people, farmers and ecological system of the region, especially the irrigation of human health and agricultural areas, allowing the cleaning of polluted water. Thanks to this important investment, significant contributions will be made to the protection of both the health of people in Sorgun and future generations, as well as the rich lands of Sorgun.

Within the scope of the project, capacity building programme will be carried out by providing technical support to the Water Utility Department of Sorgun Municipality at the same time as the construction works of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and awareness raising activities will be organized for the citizens of Sorgun.

The project will be carried out through implementation of two contracts:

Technical Assistance and Supervision for Sorgun Wastewater Treatment Plant Project consists of two main components as follows:

• Component A: Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Programme for the Water Utility Department and Project Implementation Unit of Sorgun Municipality
• Component B: Construction Supervision for Works Contract

Within the scope of the Works Contract, the construction of Sorgun Wastewater Treatment Plant will be carried out.

With Sorgun Wastewater Treatment Plant Project the wastewater collected by the network will be treated and the treated water transferred in the 1400 mm diameter collector will be discharged into Egriöz Creek.

Within the scope of the project, the Wastewater Treatment Plant has been designed with a capacity of 9100 m3/day. Sorgun Wastewater Treatment Plant will include the following units:

• Physical, chemical and biological treatment units
• Polyelectrolyte tank and dosing system for disinfection process in effluent
• Units required to meet the standards in sludge disposal
• Deodorizing unit

Total Budget: 9,440,811 Euro (European Union 85%, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change 6%, Sorgun Municipality 9%)
